Who Me? I'm Innocent! by dreamlandcody Who Me? I'm Innocent! by dreamlandcody
She bats her eyelashes, innocently, while the blood drips from her fingers. "Who me?" She says, "I would never!"

I was trying out a different technique with this piece in terms of coloring than I normally do. I started only working with black, white and grey, and worked on paying more attention to value first. Then, I added a color layer and actually, it was a pretty awesome effect.

Took 14 hours-ish

Photoshop CS5 and Wacom Intuos5

I've thought about using that technique myself, which would you say is better? Grey first, or just plain colour?

I adore the hairy arm and her horns/hair
I haven't seen a deviation from you in ages, can't wait to see more! :D

Well if you are confident about color I would just got for it. If you want to plan out stuff and be more careful to not make mistakes then I would go for grey first. The only thing I found hard was that the overlay color is not always true to colors and sometimes it comes out wonky. I think practice would help with that. And thank you for the compliments :)

Actually recently at school we have HAD to colour our concept art greyscale first, then add layers of colours over the top.
I'll keep that in mind; but I'm sure I'll figure it out with a bit of trial and error and help from photoshop ;)
Regarding your work, I really mean what i say. Keep it up, you've been improving in leaps and bounds.

Thank you! Yes, I have. I have been practicing a bunch. Drawing every single day most of the day. Practicing anatomy and such.
